can it not be welded back on ?
seriously, as crasher has said, these cheapo cats are a waste of money. they are built to just do what they need to do for a few months and really are false economy. a bit like £4.99 brake pads that last for 400 miles, not really worthy fitting. a used genuine cat would be my choice if the old one can't be repaired, which it can as long as the cats not actually damaged. it might be stainless, but you can weld them with a standard mig set up.

I just had one of mine welded back together. It cost me £150 for a new flexi joint, but as the exhaust specialist that welded it and Crasher both say, the genuine cat is a lot better quality than one you can buy for £85.

(When I say exhaust specialist, I mean the bloke that fabricates custom exhausts, not the PFY who works at Kwik Fit.)

4B0 254 200 AX for a manual 99 A6 APU is £525 approx inc VAT genuine Audi. Bosal and B&M are available which can be OK but I would push a customer of mine to go genuine even though I can make more profit on after market due to the better trade discount.
