    OK,

I've even hard wired pin 15 of the OBD II port to the K-Line in on the RNS-E and still can't get it to communicate!!

The latest on the ipod dock is it says "no mag" on the DIS
The bluetooth is working and coming through the speakers etc but it's stuck on this screen...

It all leads me to think that the RNS-E is coded wrong...

What im thinking of now is... Put the RNS-E in someone elses car, code it up for my car and then swap them back????

Or work out some way of coding it without it being in the car!!

I've already tried the radio/setup reset procedure to no avail....

You just need to do a reset of the RNSE - I remember seeing that screen online before.

Hold Radio and SETUP for a few seconds.

You could theoretically do that, yes.

Remember your coding is 0301517 going by info you have provided.

Have you coded your BT unit correctly?

    Chris,

cannot for love nor money get into the RNS-E with VCDS, nor can I access the BT controller via VCDS.

I know it sounds like a k line issue but no matter what I try (even hard wiring OBD-II port 15 to the flipping k line in on the RNS-E doesnt work)

    I think I have a k-line issue/stuck controller issue?!?

christ only knows... at least i've gotten somewhere?

You'll need to speak to Jon again as I don't have a clue about the K-line issue.

    But at least its working!

You could just plug it all into someone elses A4 B7 and code it from there - you only need to do the coding once as I assume you're not going to retrofit anything else to the RNSE

    OK,

im sure you'll be pleased to know i've given up!

Sent the RNS-E with bluetooth module to HappyDayz? Found them on google, emailed the guy Gareth who got back to me quickly and was fairly positive he could get it sorted, so hopefully it'll all come back coded wonderfully!

    Last thing...

What should the coding be on the instrument cluster? As it's factory fit I doubt i'll need to change anything but what should it be?

firstly this doesnt make sense as its straight forward the wiring is wrong and the dash will not need changing just the radio/nav coding and bluetooth

having retro fitted more rnse units than i care to remember the only issues I have ever come across are from crap single din to double din kits pined incorrectly

you need k wire/31/30 feeds to allow coms to code

    anyway good luck

I know mate, I cant help but feel the actual RNS-E cannot receive signal or somehow when they stole the RNS-E out of my car they chopped the cables and potentially broke a seperate controller required for the k line diagnostics..

Only thing I thought to try which I havent was - diagnostics on the rns-e is on the L line from the OBD-II (pin 15 on the obd ii) I could've tried hard wiring it to the K line on pin 7 instead of pin 15 on the obd but oh well, too late now.

It'll be interesting to see if it codes OK up at happydayz....

Damn my Ł1500 excess! At least i'm only Ł600 in so far....
