Throttle body actuator/DPF light

Hello all

Newbie here so please go easy on me.

I am having a problem with my car, about a week ago the engine management light popped up so I read the error codes. P0638 throttle body actuator. Havent been the garage yet it is booked in.

Anyway, 4 days later (today) on my way home from work the DPF light came on, so I took it for a drive in high revs for 25 minutes, it didnt clear.

I was wonder, if the throttle body isnt working and the car is running rich due to lack of oxygen, could this be causing the DPF error? Because the car is running rich, creating more soot?

If someone could please offer me some advice I would be greatful as I am sick of worrying about the problems I have ave with my car.

The car is a 3.0 TDI Quattro on 57 plate (2008)

How high revs did you drive the car at for the dpf? was the coil light on too?

the optimum revs for dpf regen is 2500rpm for about 30 minutes.

I changed between 3rd and 4th gear, ranging from around 3k to 4k revs for a good 25 minutes.

It gets motorway driving every day going to work doing around 60mph for about 20 minutes.

Is it possible the dpf light is connected to the throttle body fault code? Is the car ok to drive? It seems to run fine although it doesnt have the acceleration it used to have before the error.

too high revs for regen, too high revs can make the problem worse.

for regen to complete the revs need to be between 2000 and 2500 - this is confirmed by the dpf sticker fitted to my a3.

dont think its connected, its just the filter clogged up and it needs to get rid of the soot before it becomes too clogged and requires a forced regen.

one of our techs will advise on the throttle body as honestly, its way outta my small knowledge base.

Will drive to work tomorrow between 2k and 2.5k revs and see what happens. I thought the higher revs would be better.

the throttle body is the cause, sort this out then regen if required

Thanks, why would it load the dpf up?

Would the throttle body malfunction cause me to have acceleration problems?

Can someone point me in the direction of a new throttle body, can't find one online.

Roughly what is the price of a throttle body?
