Hi everyone I need some help as I'm baffled my 1.8 a4 lights, indicators and wipers dont work whilst the engine is running. when the engine is switched off they all work fine, so it cant be a fuse blown. what I have found on the bank of relays under the steering wheel is the 4th terminal from the left are 3 black and yellow wires together. when the ignition is on there is power to them but when the engines running power is lost. unfortunately I dont know where these wires run to. Anybody got any ideas please.

I've seen similar - turned out to be the ignition switch. Wiggle the key a bit with the engine running and they might work. I'm sure I got the info from threads on here, so try a search.

Yes the you included the headlights I was thinking a failed X circuit on the ignition switch.

This was a problem for me back in 2008 but I still have the car and had many more problems since....yes to your question it is defiantly the Ignition Switch...

It was a fault back in the day and Audi used to repair this problem free of charge at one time when it was realized there was a issue with it...some plastic bit kept on breaking so I think they changed it to metal...

You have to take steering wheel and airbag off to get a it .....it lives at the side of the steering column ...

I have a do-it-yourself guide somewhere I will look for it and post it for you...

Meantime just rotate the key anti-clockwise a little to the ign setting this should enable the wipers, lights etc that don't have power during starting
