Should it be possible to leave the car with the EPB off?

I did this by accident the other day after moving the car around in my garage, and only noticed when the car started to roll on a slight incline. I thought that the EPB always came on when the ignition went off. I'm now wondering if there is a fault.

AFAIK it is always a manual procedure. Many times I have parked up then felt the car roll slightly, before remembering to depress the button. Not sure if those with Autohold find that it will put the EPB on automatically when at a stop in the car park....

Autohold will automatically put epb on after a short time.
No autohold means no auto epb. You have to put it on with the button.

OK that explains it. I have autohold and use it all the time. I've got used to it automatically setting the EPB when I switch off, open the door, or undo seatbelt. On the occasion in question I had got out of the car with the engine running, which caused the EPB to set automatically, and autohold top switch off. When I got back in the move the car a foot I had to manually release the EPB, and I didn't turn auto hold back on again. When I switched off the EPB didn't set (because I didn't have autohold on). All now clear.
