    hello all.
    I currently have a 1998 audi a4 2.8 with 174k miles. I am considering upgrading to a 2002 audi a6 2.7 with 122k miles.
    What do you guys suggest?
Is there anything I should look out for with the given milage?
The asking price is 8,479 dollars.

Here is the listing: Used 2002 Audi A6 2.7T For Sale | Indianapolis IN .

    Any feedback is appreciated!

From my experience, these are the things to check before buying:

    1. Oil leaks at the back of the heads which drip on the turbos and smell (a lot). Cam adjuster seals and Cam cover gasket should fix it, but it's a few hour's job.

    2. Check the Timing belt has been replaced at the 70000 mile interval. Leave it any longer and you're pushing your luck.

    3. Check it's performing as well as the specs say it should (or not far off). That is 7.5 sec 0-60. If it's more than a second slower, the turbos could be on their way out and you really don't want that. It could also be something simpler like a boost leak or dodgy N75, but it could also be any of a hundred other things. Listen for the typical "Dentist's Drill " sound of a failing turbo.

    4. The tiptronic transmission should have quick responses to the accelerator....if there's a delay between when the engine revs up and when the car leaps forward, the torque converter is probably on it's way out. Even more expensive.

Hope all the above hasn't put you off.....they really are great cars, just need understanding and good regular maintenance.
