I felt such a pillock this evening, opened the boot using the boot key fob and after loading decided to shut the boot. Car re-arms itself and I'm stood there with no access to the car, **************** or words to that effect.

Even remembered the salesman saying he'd done this so be careful....................Hindsight such a wonderful thing.

Just wondering if anybody else has done this?

My a6 and a3 does the same thing if you just pop the boot with the key, close it and car re-locks boot.

been out to loads of these when i was VW assistance. first question we asked, ' where are the spare keys'. one beetle the boot was on the first latch so i could get a rod in and press the unlock button. a passat i drilled through a rear light unit, or went on a drive for a few miles to collect spare keys.

Thank god I had a spare set of keys at home, so a friend ran me home to collect them. I have never been so thankful as when I pressed my spare keyfob and the doors opened.........alleluia there is a God I thought.

Just shows you the grief one careless moment can cause you.

I won't do that again in a hurry!

It's for this reason I make a concerted effort to NOT use the boot unlock button

Thats true James its just a daft technical feature that VW have implemented.

Always double click the remote so everything is unlocked that way if you happen to drop the keys in the boot because you want to pickup something thats big it won't lock when you shut the lid. When you have delt with things in the boot its shut again lock it.

It's not just VW that have this feature, other marques do as well. Easy to get caught out. Keyless entry is the way forward. The keys never leave my pocket

That's what I always do Keith. I never use the boot unlock button - probably because my first VW in 2002 only had 2 bottoms on the remote fob, so I just continued to unlock the doors and boot by double clicking the bottom button on the fob when I got an mk5, and now still do this with my mk6.
