The car has developed a new fault no power, it feels like a straight 1.9 diesel, no pull up hills and no chance of overtaking.
    No EML showing
Also when slowing down for a junction with the clutch in and slight braking, if you let off the brakes (clutch still in) then reapply there are no brakes you have to stand on the brake pedal like a Clydesdale to get it to stop.
I have read many threads on this site about the power loss but none have mentioned the problem with the braking.
Hopefully I can get the codes read later to day and will post them.
    Any thoughts most welcome.

you have a vacuum leak. the turbo needs a vacuum to make it work as do your brakes, and it all comes from the same source (vacuum pump on back of engine, which is joined to the fuel pump and called a tandem pump).

of course the pump may also be goosed, but check all the vacuum pipes first.

there will probably be an underboost code. there is a connection iirc on the back of the engine bay, drivers side that pulls apart.

Zollaf, just back, you ain't wrong on the codes, 17664 P1256 Engine Coolant Temperature (sporadic) sensor -G62 open/short to B+ and the second is 17946 P1556 Turbo boost sensor (sporadic) (A) circuit: control limit not reached.
Will go and look for this iirc connector.

Zollaf your a star of the first order.

Found the connector, right under the EGR valve actuator just where the vac pipe turns towards the barke servo, the thin plastic pipe had pulled out, how

Anyway replaced the whole with a tad longer silicone pipe, and whilst I was at it I replaced all the cloth covered vac piping, bright blue pity the engine cover hides it.

Took it for a spin, the cheese factor had returned, pulled like a train, brakes work perfect.

    Thanks again Zollaf
