I have the mmi high with colour screen and comms pack, I`ve got my samsung galaxy connected via bluetooth & it works for calls perfectly and can access my phone book also, my question is can i view text messages on screen?

Not familiar with your phone, with a rSAP phone MMI display text only... AFAIK
My next phone gonna check specs and get one with that feature...
On some phone's (x) version of software will enable this feature...

3) The high option, also known as Bluetooth SAP phone, a SIM Access Profile mobile phone integrated in the car (by default it has no visible handset) which uses Bluetooth to download SIM card data from a compatible mobile phone and then uses the cars roof antenna and phone module for the actual mobile business. Benefits are better quality because no audio goes via Bluetooth and because the roof antenna is used for better reception. Also allows reading SMS from SIM card on the MMI screen. This system can be used as a traditional Bluetooth hands-free audio system as well, if so configured by the user. There is no cradle connector in this option and your mobile phone is never physically connected to the system. In MMI 3G, a SIM card can also physically be attached to the car and thus the system can work without a Bluetooth connected mobile phone.

You can read text messages in rSap mode as it works on my work Samsung.

Not sure if it works on my iPhone - could always try although iPhone uses HFP rather than rSap!

Can't believe it !!! A Samsung candy bar phone has rSAP mode and my android HTC doe not

Yep, the simple Samsung has it but my iPhone doesn't (and probably never will!)

That phone is a couple of years old too - work doesn't like replacing (cheap) phones unless really nesesscary!

Trying the iPhone tomorrow - but not holding out much hope!

I've got an Android HTC desire S. Apparently there is an rSap app for it, once it's rooted - which I have absolutely no idea how to do.

There's one for the iPhone too but it's been tested on here and been proved useless
