    Hi everyone
I've just spent the last hour or so browsing the many topics. This seems like a great place for me to ask for help and advice on buying my first Audi.

I'm currently looking at buying an A4 Avant (B8), S-Line (probably 170) and I wondered if there is anything I should look out for. For example, is the insurance premium noticeably higher between this and the 143, and is there a big difference in performance other than the obvious? I also live and work in London, so will be parking it on the street which I understand bumps it up somewhat (I previously owned a Mitsubishi L200 Trojan, and the insurance was astronomical).

I considered the A6, since my primary use will be for driving to Austria/Europe to snowboard, but I feel the A4 is a nice go-between for a run-around in London and for those long drives on the Autobahn

I don't have anything majorly specific to ask, other than general buying questions/what to look out for since this is my first Audi. If anyone has helpful hints on dealers/insurers in and around London too then that would be very gratefully received.

Thanks in advance, and I really look forward to sharing my experience on here!

    / Craig Young

I have the 170 so can't comment on the 143. You might want to consider quattro if you're in snowy conditions quite often. If it's just for motorway cruising and pottering around ol' london town you'll get better fuel consumption out of the 143 and your insurance will be a bit lower. Also the 170s are not that common when it comes to the second hand market.

Whatever you go with you're sure to enjoy it.

    Nick
