    Hi All

Since i have had a CV boot replaced i have noticed a slight metal on metal sound coming from OS front

It only happens when slightly turning right and when everything warmed up ie 20 min drive then can be heard turning right at slow speed

Checked the brake disk back plate clearance and all is good

    Any thoughts

it sounds to be like a bit of disc warp or something, it sounds like something that is being affected by heat so the warmer it gets the noisier it becomes, generally a wheel bearing will give you a horrible droning noise i would take both front wheels off and visually check the discs and pads could even be you have a sticky brake piston which isn't retracting fully best to have a good look around and at the same time check you nuts!!!

    Hi All

Good point about centre bolt ... i dont have any play in the 12 and 6 and 3 and 9 o clock position but worth a look....

Brake disks and pads are all new... and sh*t hot stopping.. last pads fitted by my local indi were crap must of been the cheapest parts around

Going to check that centre bolt but do not have the tool for that yet..

I Know that bolt has been un done 4 or 5 times in the past few years so wondering if it has stretched to much....

The noise is only there when turning right slightly .. straight is fine and full lock is fine just slightly of centre then metal metal noise....

pretty sure mine are 17mm hex, i had trouble finding something to fit so bought a 17mm hex sump key with a 14mm hex the other end so i can just undo with air gun or a breaker bar and 14mm impact socket

    Hi All

If it is just a dry CV joint can i just cut the tyrap off the large end of the cv boot and just re pack with grease then re tyrap ??

    Saves stripping it all down..

Yes you can, but you have to ask yourself why it's dry and where has all the old grease gone?? personally for the price of a joint as soon as they go dry or start knocking i just change them out but that's just me
