    Hello all,

My 2005 B7 Avant doesn't have the two small holes in the overhead lighting panel for the downlighters (ambient??). I can buy the panel that does have the holes for £15 on eBay but my questions are:

Should it have the OEM downlighters built-in?

Should the wiring loom already be in situ to accept it so that they illuminate with the sidelights?

Obviously if there's no power feed then not much point in retro fitting them. Don't think I'm interested in the LED jobbies, just the standard Audi set-up will suffice.

    Thanks for any input....

I retrofitted these, if you remove the upper panel, on the underside you will see where the holes should be, use a 7mm (I think) drill bit and then use a countersink to tidy up the finished side of the panel. Obtain the lights from Audi which will fit in your existing lighting panel and plug in the wiring (2x spade connectors also already there) hope this helps

That's great, thanks for the reply. So I don't need to change the panel at all, just drill mine through?

Just drill. But I did a 2mm pilot hole then stepped up to 7mm. Might be worth drilling from being into a block of wood so it makes a cleaner hole first time. Found this out the hard way. Light is less than15 quid from dealers.

I done mine really easy although I think I used a 6 mm bit but what's a mil between audi's. Bought the part from Audi sure it only cost £13. Clipped it in plugged in the spades, happy days nice bit of calming light

That's the one, two small red LEDs. If you remove the internal light unit you should see two small circles at the front of the unit where the holes are to be drilled. When you look at the lights actual bracket where the builds etc are you'll see where your new unit just clips in. Any probs don't hessitate to give me a shout.

So am I right in saying, the wires that come with the lights will clip into wires that are already behind
    The interior light?

    Hello Chev,

There are no wires as such, if you take off the front section of the panel you'll see the plastic bracket that holds the LEDs above the two blind holes. Follow the panel back and you'll see the male spade connectors already in-situ. The LEDs plug into these and hey presto....
