    Hi all,
    I popped into my local Audi dealer yesterday to price up a retrofit rear parking system and was quoted £485. I thought this was a bit steep but the salesman assured me that it would look the same as if it had had the system from the factory,so i thought"ok,fair enough"
    He then told me that it is audio warning only and that there would be no graphic on the MMI screen. Is this the case with the factory fitted system? All of a sudden £485 seems very expensive.Any recommendations for somewhere in the South Wales are to have this done?

    Cheers,

    Ivor.

    P.S don't know if it will make a difference or not but the car is on a 59 plate.

    Sadley on my 2008 it ia audio only. The experts on the forum can advise if the sw can be tweeked to give graphical.

    I do miss the front parking sensors and had been pondering getting a quote but had an idea it wouldnt be cheap.

    Fathers day round the corner time to start dropping hints lol

    You can enable rear display on the screen with vcds if it's a Audi parking system and your module supports the coding.

    A genuine VCDS/VAGcom seller based in UK where I got mine from (there are others) invaluable IMO & probably others would agree who have...

    http://www.gendan.co.uk/product_VCHU.html

    Instructions from a Russian forum

    There are successful experiences enable graphical display parking sensors on the MMI.
    This method was tested on my A6 and is for informational purposes. Remember that all operations are conducted at your own risk. : Rotate:

    The procedure is as follows:
    1. Enjoying a block number, which is installed on the machine. It is located right in the A6 for paneling in the trunk, you can not shoot. (See photo).

    Block Number: 4F0 910 283. Particular attention is directed to bukovku at the end! If you have C, E or H, then everything is OK (go to step 3), if A is - you need to change the block on N.

    2. Buy a box (most modern H) and without any problems for 1 minute install a new one.

    3. Making changes in the VAG:
    1) Connect the VAG;
    2) Select the section 76 (Park Assists);
    3) Select the Coding;
    4) Change the second number: 2 (0? Xxxxx);
    5) Click do it!

    4. That's it!
    If everything is done and does not work, you must update the software on the MMI (from any dealer for 30 min.).

    5. Enjoy!

    Info on modules

    It only works on certain modules

    4F0 919 283 - won't work on all revisions
    4F0 919 283 A - won't work on all revisions
    4F0 919 283 B - can be enabled using VAGCOM
    4F0 919 283 C - can be enabled using VAGCOM
    4F0 919 283 D - can be enabled using VAGCOM
    4F0 919 283 F - enabled from the factory
    4F0 919 283 H - enabled from the factory

    It's likely you have one of the first modules that did not support the graphic display.

    Here is additional info on the modules:

    4F0 910 283 - 4 sensors, no graphical support
    4F0 910 283 A - 4 sensors, no graphical support
    4F0 910 283 B - 4 sensors, graphical suppor
    4F0 910 283 C - 8 sensors, graphical support
    4F0 910 283 D - 4 sensors, graphical support
    4F0 910 283 E - 8 sensors, graphical support, rear view camera support
    4F0 910 283 F - 4 sensors, graphical support, rear view camera support
    4F0 910 283 G - 8 sensors, graphical support, rear view camera support
    4F0 910 283 H - 8 sensors, graphical support, rear view camera support

    Those with back up sensors on C6 A6 cars, just got help on ability to add parktronic graphic via vagcom. Hope this helps others, as it is a nice easy feature to add.

    Open Module [76] - Parking Aid

    Short Coding:
    0?xxxxx: Optical Illustration
    0 = without Optical Illustration in Display
    2 = with Optical Illustration in Display

    Save changes, then enable Graphic display in MMI under the Parking menu. (Click yes when prompted for default work group coding from VCDS)

    My oem coding went from 0001206 to 0201206

    Not my work from my knowledge base..

    For your reg of car you should have a newish module will check tomorrow.. maybe you know or not but on control modules sometimes the rev (letter@end) denote software/pr code/rev could be you not have module capable of support??

    parking sensors last time I ask at a dealer (inc.painting) was near enough a £100 (a piece as 4 are used per bumper) got 4 unpainted new from German seller for £40 delivered off ebay!!

    *** 4F0 919 283 / 4F0 910 283 are the same thing ( xxx 919 xxx x denote Hardware P/N) ( xxx 910 xxx x denote Software P/N) ***
    *** Ross Tech link http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index...29_Parking_Aid ***
    *** 4 sensor will do rear, 8 is for rear and front, plus you got rear cam option in mix ***

    Buying a VCDS cable enables you to connect your laptop to a port in your car via the cable. When you have the cable, you can then download software to your laptop which allows you to do a diagnostic fault scan on your car (a service that'll cost you £50+ from a garage) and enable certain features on your car. For instance programming your passenger side mirror to automatically dip when you engage reverse gear so you can see the kerb & I've enabled a 'chirp' when I lock the car.

    Hope I've not taught Granny to suck eggs by misunderstanding your question there.

    Edit: Just realised I've not made this relevant to your post, sorry. With the cable & the software you can change a code in your car's ecu so that your car displays the parking sensor function on your MMI screen according to Chris. Also, if you don't want to buy a cable yourself, there's a section on the forum which lists other members who have the VCDS cable & software who will happily do this coding for you for just a few beer tokens. Check the thread - VCDS User Locations.

    Yes but make sure you have MMI High and remember your 'front' sensors won't work as I doubt they are wired in
