I recently had water in my engine which shorted out the relays , my battery was drained and not that it is charged and back in as soon as it is connected the fan starts running.
Has anyone any experience of this or coudl it be a faulty temperature sensor ?

No doesn't that sound right AC will have no effect without the ignition on. Sounds like you have a faulty fan switch or a short circuit somewhere.
