    Hi all ive got a3 1.8t and its just started to puff a small bit of blue smoke on start up when cold, i now know its the seals on turbo and ive been told if i dont give it the beans when cold and cool it down after driving it cud go on for 12mths is this true as i cant afford to get new turbo for about 4mths will that be ok??

    It's not really something anyone could say, but driving it less will prolong the oil seal's life. Also are you certain it is the turbo oil seals which have gone? It's quite common given the mileage on most 20vt that the valve stem seals have gone too - this can also give the same symptoms as described.
