    Ah ok well in that case I'm guessing I'll not get away with that without altering the configeration of the strut.

    Be careful with aftermarket springs. VW seem to make all their own springs and the aftermarket ones are rarely as good. Replacing a pair may be ok but you still risk mucking up the handling.
    I know alot of people will disagree with me on this one but I have seen odd looking VW's so often because of this. Cars hanging down at the front or rear. I even saw one sagging at only one corner because the owner fitted a single aftermarket spring. Genuine springs often have to be removed first to get the colour code needed for ordering.
