My AC smells like warm water

Hi,

When I start my car after using the AC (maybe a few hours ago) the first smell I get is almost like warm water? It's not a bad smell usually associated with a bacterial build up.

The other thing is, if I start the car without the AC on and after using it, the screen will quickly mist up and turning on the AC is the only way to clear it.

I'm thinking maybe a drain pipe is blocked and not allowing the condensed water to drain away?

Any suggestions where I should check or what would be causing it and how to fix it?

Good observations - sounds likely that the drain is blocked. I would expect it would be somewhere near the windscreen pillar when you open the door - the water will want to drain outside the car (hoping someone else can confirm proper location for you). AC will clear as it will dehumidify the air first before cooling.

Pipecleaner would probably do it, normally these condensate drains are plastic/rubber.

I would expect the pipes to go from the AC straight down to under the car (hence the reason you sometimes see puddles under cars with AC).
