No, not near the MMI screen. The BT antenna is down on the side, near your knee.
It may sound stupid but I'm on my 2nd A6 and, on both, to pair the phone and MMI I had to hold the phone close to my knee at the centre console for the phone and MMI to find each other. After that your phone connects over BT if you have your phone further away, eg. in your jacket pocket.
It may well be something else but I'd try it one more time with a phone close to your knee for initial pairing.

The BT disc a8 tech is talking about is the second disc on mmi update 5570 set

Antenna for BT is under carpet in module, red box in photo, green box fibre link, blue box harness, yellow box in second photo id label of my module...

    Attachment 16857Attachment 16858

read this stuff may help as well https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/s...281#post722281 seems iPhone is flaky without correct MMI FW and unstable/software on iPhone...

the chap fieldy in that thread has MMI FW 2120 (post 19 link photo) like I had and was experiencing BT issues with mine (HTC phone)...
but once done MMI FW 5570 update all good

when you saying you tried other phones are they non iphone??

Have you got BOSE??? from the look of the AMP in your MMI rack photo in boot?? as depending on FW there where sound focus/setting memory issues but not drop out from some early FW..

When you do MMI FW update its going cause lots of errors logs in MMI,CAN gateway... so best way forward is IMO get scan & log before update so you know what faults may have been logged, get MOST loop test like a8 Tech advise (in post 28) on car, I would feel uncomfortable to do FW update with freaky loop as you could furbar modules, then do/get done MMI update, then clear error logs and if things persist with BT/MMI audio dropout then you need to scan to pin point fault...

You may want to consider buying VCDS/VAGcom, IMO very essential now with modern VAG car, if you think crikey thats £250-270 for one you can recoup money so quick...

are you someone which would do oil change at home? maybe retro fit stuff? play with coding?? to get other features depending on year/modules in car

again (link in post 9) some one close to you may not have seen this thread post for scan in VCDS section...
