You probably need to replace the lock.

Hi, I have the same issue and I don't believe that the locks are the issue.

Here is my post from another forum:

    I have a issue with my B6:
    - Both RR and RL door locks are dead (when closing the car, rear doors remain unlocked and can be opened - the car alarm doesn't come on). I have to open the doors from inside and to manually lock them using the manual "emergency" lock placed under a rubber cap on the door side.
    - Both courtesy lights on rear doors are not working - maybe this is somehow connected to the locks issue.

    What I done so far:
    1. Checked all fuses in the fuseboxes (left and right)- no issues there
    2. Checked the wires, connectors and masses from the rear doors up to the CCM - no rust or broken wires, no traces of humidity or water
    3. Unmounted RR door lock mechanism and applied 12V to the motors through external lock connector pins - both two work fine (the lock circuits are covered in resin so I assume no damage there)
    4. Checked courtesy light bulbs and cables - everything ok
    5. Unplugged the battery for over an hour - nothing happened
    6. Unmounted and checked CCM unit - perfect condition, good as new
    7. VCDS reads from CCM, but no errors found

    Other things I noticed:
    - Both RL and RR windows are functioning well
    - All the rear speakers are OK
    - Vanity lights are both not working (this can be due to defective sun visors) - I'm not paying attention to those
    - Trunk and fuel lid locks are working well - Lock micro-switches seems to be OK - I can see open/closed doors on MFD

Nothing I done so far worked and I have not a clue what to do next. I don't like VW dealers and their bill$$$ so I want to fix this by myself with your help. I have VCDS cable and software. So if you think this problem is somewhere hidden in VCDS preferences, please suggest what to do.

    I really appreciate your help!

    Alf

Do you have VCDS? If so mebe posting an Autoscan here would help. Or ask Ross-Tech?

    http://www.ross-tech.com/Search-Resu...?q=door%20lock
Seems there are some procedures with operating the doors from inside using door switches with IGN on listed there. But you've probably tried all those combinations...

Have you had the IGN on for sometime and yet not started car? What's your main battery voltage at its terminals?
    And then with IGN on?
Just before changing battery from supplied-when-new six years old to new Bosch noticed that my locks had become a bit hesitant, but not after a drive. Is the child safety on? Do you have an internal "all locks on" button on driver panel?

"My rear passenger door on my b6 is not locking"
NS or OS? What is being shown on your MFD?

RK3559....Best guess. The micro switches in both locks have failed. Doors won't lock because ccm thinks they are open. Are you certain the earths are good?

Hi RichardSEL, thanks for your post. You gave me quite a few hints to work on.
I have a ROSS-TECH VCDS and I'll post my Autoscan (tomorrow morning).

I took a look at the ross-tech.com link you posted. Actually I didn't try all the ING on tricks, I think my issue isn't connected with remote fob sync.

I will post my battery Voltage IGN on/off, but I think it is OK since it has 3 months. Sliding up-down all windows together is no issue at all ans it is quite fast - "my dummie voltage check".

Child safety is off. I have "all locks on" and "off" button on FL door (driver side).

Thanks so far, I'll come back to you asap with the auto-scan

    Hi Martin1810,

thanks you your reply! Perhaps can be the micro switches, I notices two of them disassembling the door lock and they seem in good shape (not tested them electrically).
Pressing on the one that gives door open/closed graphics to MFD it worked (MFD shows open/closed door). I assumed the other one that gives the "lock status" is OK (but maybe I'm wrong).

About earth I am 100% sure... I checked all locations according to the workshop manual. Everything is "as new".

Operating the "lock all on/lock all off" buttons (on the key fob or drivers door) only FL and FR locks are working - RL and RR locks are not making any sound when opening or closing. It seems like there is no power at all.

It is possible that my Variant thinks it suddenly becomes a 2-door coupé? Is there a VCDS option for disabling rear doors?

I think there is a connection between courtesy lights and door-locks. Perhaps CCM is not allowing any voltage to go both ways.

Yes it is possible to code a four door to a two door. Have look at this link.
Have you got a VCDS read out for your ccm?

Thanks for the hint! Tomorrow morning first thing I'll plug the VCDS. byte 14, bit 0 seems INTERESTING.

I'll post the CCM scan too.

    *** SOLVED ***

Hi guys! Thanks for your much appreciated help!
I solved the RL, RR door issues in 10 minutes this morning!

The problem was in CCM coding (Module 46). Byte 14 - bit was set to 00 instead of 0F (zero-F).
Once opened and closed both rear doors the courtesy lights came on too!!

I managed to fix also the immobiliser issue in appropriate byte too.

    Old CCM code:
    00 91 00 08 51 03 4E 64 00 00 1C 1D 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

    New CCM code:
    08 91 02 08 51 03 4C 76 00 00 1C 1D 00 0F 00 00 00 00 00

It seems the old owner was fiddling with VCDS and managed to convert the Variant in a 2 door Coupe (is that the reason why he sold the car!?!?!? HAAHHAAHHAH!!!)

Anyway thanks for showing me where the carrot was... I feel like a donkey when I think I disassembled RR door and lock twice this winter!

    Cheers
