I think the B6 1.8T is possibly the worst car i have ever owned!!

I have had cars for 18 Years now and this has been the most unreliable i've ever owned, there is always something going wrong with it!!

I replaced the Water Pump the day before Christmas Eve, it has now gone again!! i am so angry! i am a grown man but can honestly say i feel like crying!!!

What underlying problems can make a water pump fail twice in 4 months????

What type of pump did you fit?Know the feeling a cheap stat failed after a few weeks got the money back but nothing for the coolant lost and time to do the job again

I got the pump from Audi's. it had plastic blades so was a little annoyed with that as i thought the new designed pumps had metal blades.
I'm going to ring them on Monday and see if they can do something about it. I think they should at least replace the part if it has failed again.

I haven't actually stripped it down yet, i'm only saying its the pump as it is identical problems as before, The heaters are not blowing hot, the pipes are cold and there is no water reaching the heater matrix pipes, Also it has a huge air lock and is "Banging" when hot, the water isn't circulating to clear the air lock.
I fitted it myself so the labour costs probably won't be covered.

Perhaps its not the pump but a blockage somewhere. Can you bleed the air out or flush out and fill with plain water to see if its any better

Tried for an hour to bleed but just wouldn't have it. Also I removed the top Matrix pipe under the battery cover and run the engine with the heaters on and no water was coming out which suggests to me the pump isn't pushing the water up to it.

Sam, sorry to hear you are having a mare with the b6, both mine have been faultless.
Not trying to rub your nose in the proverbial just saying its really **** luck, as said above your pump should still be replaced gratis.

    Cheers.

I hope they give me one with metal blades this time.

I'd love to know if there is an underlying problem which can be causing the waterpump to fail as i would like to address is when fixing the pump rather than risk it going again. It's such a shame as i actually love the car other than the unreliabilty issues i'm having
