No prob. As I've said I'm no expert but when you scanned & cleared codes did you scan each block seperately or "all blocks" at once? If the latter try scanning just 01 Engine and see if any codes are thrown.
I suspect it's a faulty MAF sensor and/or air leak, wiring prob attached to this. Faulty MAF's don't always produce a code but may cause ESP, ABS lights to show as the ABS module uses "info" from the MAF & if it's not "seeing" normal parameters will think there's a problem which maybe why you're being asked to check engine module in the ABS label.
A faulty MAF would also produce the kind of intermittent power loss symptoms you're experiencing.

i dunno it wasn`t me who scanned it, it was a friend of a friend who done it for me. i will check the maf over tomorrow ive had the ecu out checked the connections and cleaned them all, the only lights ive got on is esp and the emissions light the abs 1 has never came on.

the car was doing this before the esp light came on its only in the past few weeks that the esp has come on?

Yeah, the only other thing I could suggest is what you've just done re the connection cleaning. Think I've read on here somewhere that driving the car with the MAF disconnected helps to show if it's faulty if the car drives better, but you'd better check on that! Otherwise substituting for a known good one will help.

Other posts with similar symptoms (with the exception of the ESP light) suggest a vacuum leak, N75 valve, temp sensor or even the brake light switch could be the culprit.

Sorry but that's about my limit knowledge wise, hope you find the problem soon.

Found this, it's not directly your problem but same code & a scan of just the engine control module produced a code

ESP light on 01314 and 17656 codes

so assume scanning your ECM will also do this. Note; it may flag up a code because you ran the engine with the MAF disconnected yesterday so may pay to scan, delete any code (after noting what it said) then re-scanning to see any "permenant" code.

Sorry I can't be of much more help, if you don't get any joy from this then it might pay you to start another thread in the specific forum for your car rather than the VCDS one?
