Depending on where you go, who does the job and what parts are used (pattern or genuine) you can pay anything from £300 to £450 for this job. If no mention is made of new engine mount bolts, walk away and find someone who knows what they are doing.

i had my bora done in november, along with water pump, using " a genuine volkswagen kit"
    it's a 130 pd asz engine,
by the vag indy from where i bought the car 5yrs ago.
no mention of new engine mounting bolts.
are these included in a "genuine vw kit" ?
if not, why would they not be included ,if they were needed?
i feel my indy have given me excellent service with mot's-/ repairs since i purchased the car from them,
would recommend anyone to them, feeling that you couldn't find a better/reasonably priced /totally professional outfit,
available to meet customers needs over the entire weekend.
new mounting bolts when changing timing belt?
they must be "use once only" crap?
can understand removing front mount to gain access to timing cover/belt,
but not being able to re-use mounting bolts seems to be taking it just a little too far.
    regards,
    stewy.
first time i was up a ladder i was down a well
    4th cog,--two to go

    hi
I put a gates kit on my 55 reg golf sdi a few months ago, I also changed the engine mount bolts. My friendly vag parts man assured me that their mechanics didn't routinely change them with the belt kit. They don't cost much money so I changed mine just in case. I only change a water pump when they leak, mind if you don't do the work yourself I can see the logic in it. All in all the job cost me about £65, that included tippex and a budgie mirror. A fairly straight forward job.

The bolts for the engine mount to the inner wing and from the consul to the mount are one time only stretch bolts. The consul to the block are sometimes one time only but there have been cases of these coming loose and destroying the block.

Took the plunge & replaced Cam Belt, Tensioner & roller myself.

Also purchased small trolley jack & belt locking kit.

Job not rushed & also found very helpful guide on "myturbodiesel" forum.

Wellchuffed as quoted £290 to £350

My total cost Kit £79 + Trolley Jack £35 + Belt Locking kit £10.99.

You didn't replace the consul and engine mount bolts then?
