I have searched and only found info for other vehicles like a passat apologies if linking to other sites is not allowed http://www.taligentx.com/passat/maintenance/cvjoints/

    2005 A3 2.0 TDI

I need to change the CV boot on the OS outer cv joint, is it the same method. The outer drive shaft does not want to separate from the Hub at the moment

If you cant get enough leverage to pull the shaft out you need to disconnect wishbone and then you should be able to pull it out enough whilst hitting the drive shaft with a hammer and a punch.
