    Hi Gupsterg,

    This only happens when I turn the key to position one, when the dash lights come on. If I turn the key off and then one again once or twice the fault goes away. I guess it has something to do with when the modules etc, power up. Once the dash has reset e.g. esp and glow plug lights go out it starts perfectly with no problems at all when running.

    I'm thinking possibly that dodgy battery volts/amps, voltage controller or something like that causing the modules to do a wobbly.

    Can a faulty key cause any problems as they are a lot more complex than just engine immobilisers, with their memory function. One other thing I have noticed is that sometimes (but not very often) when I unlock the car not all the doors unlock and I have to unlock again. Probably not related, just clutching at straws.

    If fault with key I would assume log would show, but if you wanna check some measuring blocks, with VCDS access module [05]

    For the last couple of weeks I hadn't had any problems but today the same fault was back with vengeance. I was stuck in the school car park with the dash lights all on, brake fault on DIS and an alarm bleeping but this time turning the key on and off didn't work. The car would not start, my 4 year old sitting in the back asking me if the problem with the car was back. He then sweetly told me he would help me fix it when we got home. After about five mins of turning the key on and off the dash lights came on normally and the car started fine.

    I'm sure that when this happens the car doesn't 'click' the same. Normally when I turn the key I here several clicking noises from around the car which I assume are solenoids switching. I think it doesn't sound the same when this problem occurs.

    Could a bad solenoid be causing this? Which solenoids come in to use when you turn the key to position 1?

    I have read the fault codes again and they are listed. It does seem to list faults which occurred today and another lot which occurred last month. I haven't noticed any other problems when driving the car and have no idea if they are in any way related.

    How can I get help from a8 tech? It seems he has a great knowledge of audis and I would really appreciate his ideas.

    I'm going on a family trip to France for our holiday next month and would really like to have fixed this before I leave, I don't what the worry of breaking down over there and ruining the hols.

    looks like a terminal 30 hanging so all the faults relate to engine ecu

    remove the passenger e box cover

    located nsf plenum chamber

    inside you will see the engine ecu and the supply relays

    check for water ingress and feedback your findings

    ok need to read drive train can status when the fault happens as well as voltage

    get the drivetrain from address 19 or 03 (measured value blocks)

    get the voltage supply to the ecu from address 01 if possible

    look at
