I touched on this last night but need some answers - got a suggestion from Alann84 to use some Bilberry but need something to use everytime I clean the car.

The 'slime' problem: looks like the car had been parked outside/under a tree by the previous owner

    Hi.
If I was going to cleam my door shuts or hinges, I would use neat G101.
Spray it on and adjitate with a paint brush, rinsing away with garden hose.
Not advisable to use a pressure washer as the dirt will go everywhere.
Keep applying the G101 and using the paintbrush until the job is done.
One thing I would say is what you are trying to clean away mostly grease for
the door hinge. When you finish your job, spray a lot of WD 40 around the hinge and then
apply some fresh grease, otherwise a couple of days or weeks after you do this, you will have creakey
doors when you open and close them.
    Good luck.

Hi Chris, I know the issue you speak of re the door shuts.

Like my exhaust tips, I clean the door shuts and also the underside of the bonnet everytime I wash the car, once its done the first time, it literally adds a few minutes onto your routine. For me now, its just a very quick spray of APC and then a quick wipe with a microfibre and they're as good as new.

    Mark makes some good points.
I'd also look to use a paintbrush, maybe 1" or similar, spray some APC ( All Purpose Cleaner ) or Bilberry would do the trick too I guess. Maybe go around and liberally spray them all, by the time you get round to the first one again it will have loosened any stubborn dirt / grime......agitate it with the paintbrush as required followed by another few squirts of your spray solution, then wipe clean, job done
As Mark says, obviously follow up and re grease the hinges.

Once you've done this, if you incorporate it into your routine it will only take a few minutes and you'll hardly notice the time, but will notice the door shuts every time you get in / out the car.

Where I have had grubby door shuts like this in the past, I have used Autoglym Super Resin Polish and an old toothbrush to apply it, then it just wipes off. As Mark says, re-apply a little grease to your hinges afterwards.

    Cheers!

    Thanks Mark,

Would this here do it? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Autosmart-...item27c1e132f5

What grease would you reccommend for the doors aferwards?

    Edit -

    Thanks Mark too!

Might try the SRP as I have tons of it in the garage.

What grease to use for the hinges afterwards?

    Jeez everyone replying at once!

    Thanks Jim,

I'll try Bilberry and SRP tomorrow and see what the outcome is .. I'll get G101 if SRP or Bilberry doesnt take it off

    You should use white grease.
Plenty of WD 40 first, put the grease on any moving parts with your finger
and get it into the nooks and crannys with a half inch paintbrush.
I presume you can get white grease from any autoparts store.
