Hi there. A remap on these is fine and a full performance map will give 35-40bhp and 70-75Nm torque. However because of the mileage I would be more inclined to have a not so strong map. The car will drive so much better after, being smoother and having a increased throttle response also. You will even find it a little better on the MPG side! So although I am biased it really is a win win situation with a remap. Just look around on the forum and see what others say about their remaps. Any car can benefit.
I don't know where you are based in the UK but I am in Kent if this is of any help and I have a deal on at present, which if you come to me the cost will be £200!

Hi ap thanks for the reply.. why would you recommend a less
Powerful remap? Do you think it would affect the engine and
Turbo? Have you ever known a turbo blow after a remap?

As with anything, if you modify the original factory settings, you increase the rate/risk of failure of components. I have thought long and hard about getting my Jetta remapped (1.9 105 TDI), but I have decided to leave it alone. VW designed the engine and components in a certain way for a reason. I'm not convinced some guy with a laptop and rolling road can do a better tuning job than VW.

Also, with remapping, you certainly get extra power, but if you actually use it, you will lose fuel economy, which in your case defeats the reason for owning a Bluemotion, and to retain fuel economy, you can't use the extra power, so what's the point in having it?

I'd say, if you wan't a more powerful car, then buy a car with more power as standard.

Hi tdibora sam ... Yeh i totally agree with about the wanting more
Power to buy a powerful motor. However i have the bluemotion
Which agen yes i did buy for the economy but its kinda getting boring
Now lol.anyways i had a 2002 tdi passat a few years ago which i had
Mapped and the turbo went the next day!!! But i found a greater
Improvement in economy and the ride was so much more refined and
Powerful, so my point being i would Stil have the economy of the bluemotion
With a better ride and more Power under the foot when wanted with the added
Bonus of group 6 insurance !!!

The reasons for not putting such a powerful map on are:
1- The economy will not be as good
2- The mileage is quite high, and I do not like to stress things too much
3-With a Blended map of economy and power you will still get more power over standard but with better economy than you are already getting.
The reason why manufacturers don't make their software as powerful as us tuners do is because there is many factors they have to account for the world over. A few of these factors are fuel grades and climate conditions and longevity. By making the software as an AVERAGE overall the vehicle will (should) work the world over for many years to come, so its a no brainer for them. Remember tuners are not making the software, we are simply modifying it in certain areas to enhance the performance and/or economy.

Be very wary about remapping a "Bluemotion"

Best to change for a basic vehicle & remap that.

    Mine a 1.9tdi 55 plate BKC 109 bhp remapped to 144 & Viesu Bromsgrove & now a great car

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the Mk.5 Bluemotion just a regular 1.9 TDI 105PS, but with taller gearing and lowered ride height? No stop/start or anything fancy. As such I'd expect that remapping it would be the same as remapping any other 1.9 TDI.
    2002 Polo 9n 1.2 65PS. Basic but it's better than the train!
