Afternoon All, I have a question about the above, mainly directed towards Martin (sorry for another thread on this, but I didn't want to hi-jack someone elses):

I too am about to join the party of those attempting to change the rear pads themselves. I have bought an Autel-Tech EPB tool but my question is: once I have used this to electrically wind the motors off, do I need to leave the ignition on until I have fitted the new pads and am ready to electrically wind the motors back on and do their 'learn' routine, or am I safe to turn the ignition off so long as I don't touch the EPB switch etc? Then with new pads fitted, then turn the ignition back on and do the reset routine?

The reason being that I plan to do a bit of other work (tidy up the discs, caliper etc) at the same time so don't fancy leaving the ignition on all that time.
I have downloaded the official VW workshop manual from erWIN but doesn't mention anything about turning the ignition off while mechanically changing the pads etc.

Thanks for any advice.
