I’ve just got a new clutch and flywheel. My mechanic and one of his friends who is also a mechanic advised me to return it and get a single mass. They said all taxi drivers replace their dual mass with single mass when they’re on the way out as they will never need another clutch/flywheel again. I couldn’t be bothered with the hassle of returning it but I if I need to replace in the future I will get a single mass.

8 year thread bump lol. Theres a company in Lancashire I think called Techni Clutch - if your buying stay well clear of them. Their SMFs arent balanced and the plates are shoddy wripoffs. When not doing a DMF I have found the best SMF for customers to be a Comline ECK228F for the 1.9tdi Mk5 golf.

Confirmed, horrible problems with Techniclutch 1.9 tdi BXE 'SMF conversion kit', even the bolts on driveshaft flew out from vibration.
Car stalls in slow traffic, drives itself with clutch released and accelerator released etc. Bad gearbox vibrations on 1st gear pulling off and then again at about 80-90mph.

Which is why we won't fit them, the driveshaft bolts probably came loose because they were not replaced with new ones.

I can’t understanding how they are still trading. They have been reported to trading standards loads of time yet years later are still total frauds.

They sell air fresheners and little cheap things for peanuts to boost their feedback. It’s only a matter of time before someone takes the matter into their own hands and I’ll be happy when they do.
