My car is a mk4 golf year 2003 1.6 petrol and has a bcb engine. The readiness test was failing for oxygen sensors and catalytic convertor.

I have determined that sensor 1 is likely to be faulty. This is the pre-cat one. I have checked the connector for sensor 1 and it's plugged in properly. I have found out from the internet that there is a oxygen sensor aging test for sensor 1. Does any one know how to to do it? Which group block to use and do you run it with engine OFF or started?

I just want to be sure its faulty before I remove because there difficult to undo. I may end up damaging it. Last resort is to change the oxygen sensor for a new one.

have you tried this and has it worked for you. I thought "basic setting" changes things in ECU. I want my car to start afterwards. So which one will reset the oxygen sensor failure to PASS in the readiness screen. If this work the I can others. I just want to know how to tell if my pre-cat oxygen sensor is workinng or not using vagcom.

Were you able to find out how to do this test?

I've read that basic settings block 34 will do the job, however, I have not been able to complete this test. I don't know how to do it.

    Any help would be appreciated.
