    You need a Can Gateway with P/N: 3C0 907 530 (ending with either an E H K L M N or Q)

I can confirm an L works fine as thats what I fitted to my '07 Sport TDI after I had battery drain issues after fitting an RNS510.

The 1K0 is from a Golf and does not communicate with all the controllers on a Passat.

The VW Passat B6 (3C0) 2006 is shipped with Gateway module 3C0 907 530 C. The last letter is the revision code. Latest versions of this module have suffix letter Q. Beadles Dartford spare parts price is inc.VAT £140.46, ex-stock. This latest version avoids the battery drain issue and other updates needed when upgrading to RNS510. You should look for the 3c0 907 530 series ending with an E, H, K, L, M, N, or the latest Q. This latest is at: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-OEM-CAN-BUS-gateway-3C0907530Q-3C0-907-530-N-L-E-M-/300587890104?pt=Car_Audio_Video&hash=item45fc6f35b 8

The issue is described by VW in their TPI 2017949. There have been reports of coding-up a C revision to software 48 (from 40) that works. But this can't be done in VCDS only dealer-type software which costs too. The URL asks for £82 delivered ex-Tiawan.

There's a seller of 2nd hand parts on fleabay that either says the revision letter's rubbed off or offering an E version at £60. Fleabay says that they've had difficulty resolving issues. A C revision is only worth £20 if that

The 1k0 series is for Golf/Jetta and won't work on a Passat

    Hope that helps?

I was advised to be careful with the 'Made In China' Can Gateways when I was looking.
As some weren't Genuine and caused problems.

The seller mentioned above has good feedback so hopefully are originals, but just giving you a heads up.

Before I did my own upgrade I called my local VW dealer and was quoted £250-£300 to supply/fit and code a 'Q' gateway.

I have an 'L' in mine which was sourced from German Ebay. I paid around £85 delivered for it.

Before I did mine my local dealership said they wouldn't fit and code a Chinese version due to instabilities/glitches in the software.

I also asked another Passat owner who had it done, and said he returned his 'Made in China' Q due to strange electrical faults which were cured when he fitted a 'Made in Germany' version.

As said that doesn't mean they are all problematic. And my dealer might of just wanted me to buy the whole thing from them
