    Well a new one is £200 more than you have been quoted for the whole job including labour just for the main part! get them to give you the part number and if it has an X at the end (such as 03G 253 010 JX), then it is a recon service exchange part.

    Just noticed today white/blue smoke coming out of the exhaust when first started and then when pulling away. Could that be the turbo too?

    Blue smoke = oil

    Could be the turbo, check your oil level
