    Hi Guys

Seen the following A6 for sale close to me today and I'm quite taken by it. Have'nt had chance to get inside and test drive yet but thought I'd ask your opinions and what I should be checking/looking out for during the t/drive.

Looks like a good car - BUT ! at that price mono sat nav - and no leather ? Have a good look about and see what you can find in that price range as you would have a car a while and you want to ensure that you get the best that you can......

    Thanks Chris

Had'nt considered a 3.0Ltr as I would have thought it would be a lot more expensive to run what with lower MPG etc and probably higher servicing costs?

What sorta driving are you doing? Mpg is 40-44ish on the motorway and anything from 25-30 around town.

I'll be on my computer soon so I'll write about service costs etc.

Service costs are very similar, fixed servicing only upto 2.0 @ Audi dealer. 2.7 is 3.0 detuned they share a lot same parts, 10% bigger engine with 20% or more BHP. 2.7=180 BHP/PS 3.0=225/233/240 BHP/PS depending on year, 225 is only 04/05, 233 is 06/07/08/some 09 most 09/10/11 are 240PS.

    Hi again

Most of my driving is the daily commute to work which is mainly country lanes and towns which puts me in the 30mpg bracket which is'nt to bad compared to my current 11yr old 2.6ltr omega.

I service my 3.0 TDi at Audi and a minor serivce which includes oil, filters etc is £299. A major service can vary as my last Major needed brake discs and pads replaced which pushed the price up to £700 but those wont need done for another few thousand miles.

I'm getting about 5-600 miles from a tank dependant on driving style but thats usually the norm.

Heres a Le Mans the same price as the car you posted above - http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classifi...01216464722229

Dont worry about the mileage, mine is at 72k and still runs like the 33k I got the car at 3 years ago.

Also has heated leather, the good satnav, dual aircon etc.

You didn't mention auto but the tiptronic box suits the V6 really well and delivers power and torque when you sink the right pedal

On the test drive check all the MMI works, press every button, flick every switch to make sure it all works.

Check for a full Audi history or Specialist history

    Check tyre depths etc

Saloons suffer from steamy rear clusters which are covered under warranty and there have been a couple of fixes on here for cars out of warranty

I bought an extended Audi warranty which covers me for everything the original did - its paid for itself for the past 2 years and i would highly reccommend it to anyone purchasing a car under 100k or 10 years old.
