    Oh God NO!!!! That sucks!!!!!

Anyway, heard from Audi today, they hadn't even read the job notes as he said "Hi Mr Bird, we have found your Water Leak, it is coming from the Thermostat Housing." so i said to him, what about the Water pump? why is that not pumping up to the matrix pipes? to which he replied "Oh, we haven't checked that, we was told to locate a water leak. We will have to put it back in the workshop and let you know"

Could the over heating from the damaged water pump have caused a crack in the Thermostat housing?

overheating can cause all sorts of nasties. things distort, like little housings or worst off heads and gaskets.

Just had the call, They are saying the leak is now coming from the back of the engine, and this is causing the air lock which is in turn causing the non-circulation, not the water pump!!! they are going to call me tomorrow with prices for the work!!

I am now contemplating selling her. it has been a bit of a money pit!!!

    PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, Audi gave the car back yesterday with a check sheet with about £3,000 worth of work needed!!!

    The car isn't worth that!!

    But...............

They located the leak to the Thermostat Housing, i wasn't completely sold on it being that but i took it and paid £80 for the Housing and Coolant.

I stripped the car down this morning and got the thermostat housing off, I thoroughly cleaned the mounting surfaces and checked the old housing for any cracks, I couldn't see any cracks or damage on the housing but what i did notice is the "O" Ring had 2 very slight knicks in them, i removed the "O" Ring from the new housing and put it on the old one and built it back up as it's only an Hours work i decided it was worth trying. Once built back up i filled it with plain water in case it still leaked!!! (to tight to buy more coolant lol) i run it up and the heaters worked fine, the engine idled all the way to 90 and sat there for about 30 mins without budging and didn't overheat, i bled it perfectly so that was my problem!!!
I drained it all and filled it with coolant and bled it through, again it is running perfectly! I cannot beleive the effect a tiny Knick in an "O" ring can have.

I am now going to try my luck and get my money back on the new housing (almost £60) as i didn't use it.

I'm a little bit happier now

    Oh well spoke too soon!!!

Just took it to the Audi garage to get a refund on the Thermostat housing and it overheated on the way there and now the heaters do not work again, also there is serious pressure in the system, I am convinced it's the waterpump not the thermostat like they said, but i may have shot myself in the foot as i rung them to say it was a loose bolt rather than a crack and can i get a refund on the housing? so they now may use that as a reason why there are problems.

    ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think once its done then my Audi adventure will be over and the car will have to go, i am now burnt and don't think i will ever own another B6!! i stand by the title now and have to say this is the worst car i have ever had the displeasure of owning!!
