    Hi Guys,

I've noticed over the last few months that my 2.0tdi BKP 140bhp passat is not as good a starter as it used to be.

First start from cold (doesn't seem to matter if it's freezing outside or warm) glow plug light goes out after a few seconds and I crank. Starts quickly but sounds as if it is on 3 cylinders for about 2-3 seconds. Then is fine.

If I turn off and restart the lumpiness disappears. Driving is fine with great performance and the usual economy....

May be a coincidence but I think this started shortly after the injectors were changed?

    Glowplug issue? Something more serious?

    Cheers

    Rich

And me - in fact, I have just bought another bottle of Millers today to see if it helps as it seemed to the last time I used it.

When my injectors were replaced I thought that it was a bit keener to start from cold - although it's always been a good starter - but perhaps not so keen from hot or warm.

However, the other day I started it from stone cold and it spluttered for a couple of seconds, which it's never done before.

It had been sitting for a few days though, and didn't seem to turn over too quickly, so perhaps the battery just isn't in the best of health. Seemed OK yesterday though.

I'm generally pleased with my injector change, not least from the peace of mind it brings, and the 10% improvement in mpg. However, like some others, I find starting is now a bit spluttery compared to the instant start-up I had with the old injectors.

Mine does this sometimes, I think it maybe a dirty egr valve causing it.

Mine was serviced just 3 weeks ago and made no difference to the starting (didn't expect it too) - although I feel better for it having some fresh Helix Ultra inside.

My 05 2.0 tdi 140 is the same... very rough on cold start up (sounds and smokes like a tractor) but clears with a quick tap on the throttle. It has been like this since about 70k miles.Had the injector replacement call back done in December and thought this would be cured...but no,it's still the same.
I changed the fuel filter last week (wich was as black as an oil filter!)and it seemed better for a while. Also noticed that the longer the car is left standing, say 2-3 days it is worse.I have been advised by a mechanic to try and avoid using supermarket fuel,I'll stick to leading barnds for a while to prove this.
