Hi there, can anyone help. The brake pad level warning light has come on on my 2002 A4. We've changed the front pads, how do i reset the light? It looks like (0), the ABS sign is not on it nor is the brake fluid level, just the (o), any ideas?????

PS......... is this the warning light on the DIS (Driver Information Display) rather than a light in the cluster...

yes... theres 2 types of pads you can buy... ones with the sensors and ones without..

The pads have a plug which plugs in behind the calpier.. if you have replaced with pads with sensors.. normally what happens is when you set off the warning light stay on and ABS light until you have braked as the sensors get confussed..

I would suggest checking the pads to make sure the wires have a good connection... if they have.. its a faulty set of wiring on the pads..

i've also come up with the warning. If you simply dis-connect the plug, will the warning come off? I haven't changed the pads, on initial inspection, the pads look fine. Also, what is the correct brake fluid levels? I can't really see anything because of the stupid cover!

Has the light just come on for you without you changing anything on the car?
I had a similar problem a while back:

    thanks for the reply Hagis.

My problem doesn't really to be as severe. It's just a simple warning. No ABS or TC warning light (and mine is a petrol so glow plug warning is n/a).

can anybody else confirm whether unplugging the brake sensor would take the warning light off?

    TIA

just a thought, and can anybody confirm this.

I got a letter from Audi saying that my brake fluid is due for replacing. Is it coincidental that the light has come on? or does this not effect it?

    TIA
