    Hi all,

I have an RCD510DAB (from a mk6 I think) in my Octavia and have just had a Fiscon Basic Plus fitted. I've gone to do the coding and ticked 77 for Telephone Prep in the CAN Gateway installation list, but when I try and select Telephone (CAN) in the Long Coding helper under the Radio Module (56), I get error 31 - "Coding Rejected: Error 31: Request out of range".

Is there any way around this? The phone is paired to the car, I can make and receive calls and view information on the Maxidot display but I can't do anything through the headunit. Is there anything I need to do? When I fitted the headunit, I tried to select either VW Soundsystem or Skoda Soundsystem installed in Long Coding but they were both rejected with Error 31. Dana at Ross Tech seems to think this is normal and "No Sound System Installed" should be the option selected as the others are apparently specific to built in amps, Dynaudio, or other things like that.

Any ides? I would be very grateful for your assistance.

    Ta

    J

Would you like pics/screenshots/scans of what VCDS is reporting?

I've read through the manual and only found reference to the code change in Address 19 (CAN Gateway), which I selected 77 for telephone prep.

This is the most recent scan, I've omitted everything bar CAN Gateway, Radio and Telephone as I am not sure that it is relevant, but if you would like more please ask.

    Address 19: CAN Gateway (J533) Labels: 7N0-907-530-V2.clb

Changing byte 3, Bit 1 to tick the check box marked Telephone OR Telephone Preparation (CAN) installed.

When I try and save this, I get error 31.

    Am I doing something wrong?

Well John its either the fiscon loom is incorrect or the unit is incorrect as once the gateway can see the phone then the radio only needs to be told to allow the function

Out of intrest disconnect both the radio and the fiscon and see if a hard reset works

Failing that send a ticket fiscon and check the fiscon firmware is the latest

if you can screen dump vcds long code helper for address 56 as well as I dont have all the byte functions

Sorry I didn't see you had added to your post before I posted up the scan results.

I've tried and that's when VCDS gives me error 31.

I've highlighted in bold everything that is selected on my car.
I brought the 00 Soundsystem Non Installed to Ross-Tech's attention after it was fitted but they seemed to think this is normal.

Not sure what else to do.
Skoda Soundsystem CAN DSP is what I would like to use as I understand my car is CAN rather than BAP. I don't know if the headunit is having a wobbler because it's out of a later car and thinks it should be connected to a BAP system. Or am I making that up?

Is the radio a retro fit?
I would contact fiscon to check the compatibility against the radio hw and sw version
Can you reset the radio as most code changes need the unit to be reset to take affect
Without the exact details its harder but does vcds see the dsp amp in the installation list (it should not matter as this issue is just the radio display and radio menu not showing phone operations

tick phone prep can and reboot the radio

Yes it's a retro fit and had been previously fitted to another car. When I put it into my car it had retained its memory (presets, etc) so I guess it's never had a full reset. I am not sure if the unit has the option to be reset, but I guess pulling the fuse would have the same effect?

Looking at Kufatec's site, I can't tell if the software version of my kit is the most up to date - the kit SW is something like (and I'll check and confirm) 3.23.5 but there is a version 3.247 on the Fiscon site for hardware version II (which I am pretty sure I have). I don't want to go bricking either the HU or the kit, so might try resetting the HU first.

Can't see a way of doing a reboot on the radio other than pulling the fuse (or disconnecting the radio and then pulling the fuse).
Despite being taken from one car and fitted to mine (and briefly fitting to my dad's as a fault finding exercise) all the presets and info were stored so although a full reset must be possible, I've no idea how to do it!
