My Dad is looking to change his current car and likes my A8 Quattro, but it's way too big for him and he also want's something with more elevation as he's getting on a bit now !

He looked at the Skoda Scout 2.0TDi but then had a brief look at an A4 Allroad 2.0 TDi on an 09 plate I think ?

Just wondering if any of you have any (constructive) views

Key questions, what's the power of the 2.0TDi and as it's an allroad does it run on adjustable suspension ?
    Thanks

The A4 Allroad does not have adjustable suspension and the power output is 170 PS which is fine.

I'm not sure I would compare my Allroad with with a Skoda, but would recommend the Audi its a great car and sticks to the road which makes it a very safe drive.

I have found the (slightly) raised ride height has improved the ride quality particularly over speed bumps and uneven roads.

Car selection is a very personal choice and I think your Dad has to make up his own mind.

    Good luck

Thanks fo that info. He has seen and liked the Skoda and whilst no offence was meant in comparison I think it's fair to say that Skoda's 170PS 4x4 Superb or Scout are from the same family and he likes both of them, the Superb is a little on the large size for him. He's looking for something with adjustable suspension or at least self levelling as he tows a caravan....good insight into your car tho, thanks.

I have a Skoda Scout, and have owned one as both a diesel and the 1.8TSI and have to say they are brilliant cars. What they may lack in the style stakes/kudos of an Audi, they make up for with brilliant value for money and as much kit as the Allroad. One thing though, you can only get the 140BHP diesel engine in the Scout, you'd need to go up to the Superb or Yeti to get a 170BHP diesel. However the 1.8TSI is a good nippy engine in this car, if a little thirsty! Unfortunately you won't get the self-levelling suspension with the Skoda's - I think you'd need an A6 Allroad for that.

I don't see the point of the All Road A6.............. why not just a nice spec'd A6 Avant with Quattro?............. I had one from the dealer while my A4 was in for service, lovely to drive, bit choppy and the plastic wheel arches were a bit ugly I thought...........
