Thoughts on this a6 avant 3.0 tdi,

1st time poster, long time lurker.

I test drove this, this morning, drove really nice. It's got mmi high, xenons, pdc, leather, se spec.

The dealer wants £9999.

I really wanted one with this spec and Bose, but you can't have everything.

Any thoughts? Can I get more car for similar money? Not made my mind up yet

Reg year & Mileage? I did also want BOSE but to tell you truth standard speakers and amp very good. With my recent retro fit of AMI and DAB even better!! BOSE retro can be done but more involved.

Mine had FASH history but each time it had the service it was because previous owner had P/X with dealer... The dealer had done minimum eg oil & oil filter I liked car so much that did rush to buy it, afterwards when rang dealer network it turned out it had not had the level of servicing I thought it had... I would check this out as a big service can be £££ eg oil & filter, air filter, pollen, fuel filter

For age mileage sounds about right money for car, the "Avant"'s are dearer new and used than there saloon counterparts...

Most of the above can be done relatively easily at home as well depending on your capabilities...

I had read through the service documents and the services were different, the last one included all the filters being changed including the fuel filter.

One other thing, the car has an after market tow bar, Westfalia I believe. And the bumper is badly marked from something hitting it. I can only assume a boat as the tow bar is rusty.

Sounds good service wise... The other issue which I consider a biggie for "Avant"'s is this https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/s...-Problem/page2 again can be done at home if occurs... easiest way to tell leaks damp carpet in passenger footwells, condensation on underside of rubber mat also there is a compartment on right in boot check for dryness and/or low pressure non working rear washer.

Also take to or ring Audi to find out if rear tailgate hinge has had recall done for washer pipework... it may or may not be applicable at yours is 57 Attachment 16434

Westfalia is OE spec so not really an issue if it has been wired using the OE wiring adaption kit. Shame about the bumper....

If you want to check swirl flap motor linkage just pull engine cover towards you (1st photo green arrows) slowly as can crack if jerked at there are four points it's held on engine and should be able to see motors (2nd photo red boxes) and check for play on linkage arms (3rd photo red box)....

If issue you will get lights on dash, this would be something on my check-list before buying as costly if no warranty cover for it (if covered)... again not meaning to alarm you but better to check before taking plunge...

Hah! I've had my 3.0l Le Mans a whole week - well actually it was Friday on my 4th full day of ownership - that the emissions warning light came up. Checked by selling dealer today - swirl flap failure warning. Thank goodness I have a warranty up to £1000/claim, should do most on one bank (assuming only one side has failed). Will also be phoning Fontain in Iver to check out the sub-£500 fix that was mentioned in the Autocar used review of the A6 recently - they're only 30 miles away.
