Starting Problems 19TDI

Hi all,

I having problems with my Octavia Tdi being difficult to start.. Tried new Glo plugs still the same, it turns over fine, but seemed like no compression.
A couple or three goes on the key and it eventualy fires up into life..
I have read other threads but cant find any problems like this....
I have no code to offer as i dont know anyone with vagcom....

Any ideas????

what age is your octavia and what engine code. it could be a pd or a ve so we need to know to be able to advise.

Its a 2003 19 TDI Laurent Klement
Dont think its a PD engine...

if you lift the boot carpet you will find a sticker with all the cars info on it. this same sticker can be found in the handbook and the engien number will be on the timing belt cover also. it will be 3 letters, like AFN, AWX etc... 2003 could be either so best to know exactly what it is.

ok, so the asv is 110 bhp with a rotary pump. ok, when you try to start it, does the glow plug light always come on ?

Yes glow plug light always comes on, and i can hear (what i think) the pump working before you crank over engine..

how many miles on it and when did it last have a timing belt change.

There is 87000 on the clock, Cam belt done at around 60000. with full service history up until i bought it as a third owner....
