without the servo you are not compressing the air, which you do easily with the help of the servo. are there bleed screws on the master cylinder itslef. if there are try bleeding these as well.

If there is air in the system you will feel a spongy pedal without servo assistance, if you release the pedal and press again it will still feel spongy, it will not sink all the way down under servo assistance and feel fine without.

Just to update, the fault is now sorted
It required the abs unit bleed which is done diagnostically.

Work carried out by a site sponsor Walsh motors.

This I will try, I am sure I have read it can be done with Vagcom
