Can anyone advise if the windscreen is electric heated as I am getting my windscreen replaced due to a stone chip the size of a 20p on the driver side?

You'll be able to tell a) if you have a heated windscreen button in your climatronic/climatic control area, and b) if you can see feint heater threads in the windscreen, usually zigzag but very noticeable if you look close.

Are you sure the heated windscreen button you refer to isn't the front windscreen demist button ?. I have attached a picture of a previous Passat thet I had which shows the front heated windscreen symbol (on the right), but on a different climatic system to yours. Sorry for poor picture quality. The second picture shows the demist symbol on the right hand dial, with the heated rear window symbol middle left, heated windscreen synbol middle right.

Mine has the climate control system with the two buttons as you have attached...one for the rear heated screen and another button for the front but i am not sure if this is heated or not when i press it the fan blows.

In that case it's the 'demist' button, not heated windscreen.
