Had longlife service October 2010 at about 124k, then injectors all done under recall early January and car running nicely.

About 126,500m car had been smoking a bit on start and was running rough.

On a decent journey down and back from Cornwall got the dreaded 'Glowplug' warning light with Engine Fault Go to Workshop warning on the MFD. Car in limp mode so pulled in to layby and turned off then restarted but fault warnings persisted. Moved off in limp mode to next layby where I stopped again and turned off for over five minutes. On restart no warning lights and back to normal mode and got home.

Car into local garage (very knowledgeable garage, with loads of awards, who's main business is recovery off the A30) and got turbo overboost as fault from diagnostic. Got all the spiel about possible turbo fault and potential costs (this was all done very genuinely as we have used the garage lots and we are locals) but asked would I be prepared to be their first customer to try a product called Revive. A brand new product to try to clean the turbo without all the associated costs of stripping it down, cleaning and replacing all the seals. It would about £50 and the car would be ready about an hour later after test drive. So I said give it a go!

Well I got the car back last night - amazing, just like it should be. Took it for a spin about 10 miles down the A30 and back, clean sweet and responsive.

Took it this morning to still just as good. Will report back when got some more miles on it.

Thanks - I'd be really interested to hear if the revive makes any difference to that, and how the car performs longer term.

The good news is that there must be some benefit from squirting chemicals in.

The first engine swap I ever did was an Anglia 105E where my old man had blown a hole in a piston after pouring 3/4 of a tin of Redex in with only a gallon of juice - then he gave it the beans and you could hear the bang from 400 yards away. That, of course, was in the days when Redex was close to a weapons grade explosive and before they toned it down a bit and put it in a sissy plastic bottle. It was also in the days when you had to strip and decoke your engine every 40k miles and a tin of engine treatment would stave off the inveitable for a while longer.

The bad news is that nothing that doesn't involve spanners is going to permanently fix the overboost limp mode problem and Revive is just another, (more expensive than the last) attempt to gain a few extra months of trouble free operation. If I had a car to sell, I'd give it a go, but if it was a keeper I'd sort the problem properly.

I do hope that it works for you. Please do post a result in 6 months.
