I'm curious to know why you haven't replaced the MAF?

Crasher (he of all knowing VAG) always recommends getting a new MAF from Audi.
Nothing to see here, move along..

hmm, might be a bit more of a priority if these problems have knocked your cat for six and you need to spend out money on a new one that you wouldn't have had to spend if the fault had been attended to when it first showed.

Yes, you're right, but i'll cross that bridge when i come to it. MOT isn't until October. Besides the car has been running with this fault for over a year. I have been so busy with work and home that i haven't attended to it. But it's time to get on with it.

I am fully prepared that i may need to replace the cat, lambda sensor and AFM. But i don't mind because the car is a keeper. It's only got 65,000 miles on it. I just put a set of 18" RS4 style alloys on it a couple of months ago, so i am very pleased with it.

lol, i think getting a running problem fixed would take priority over new wheels , at least in my little world it would.

Sounds like a collapsed catalyst converter with the difficult revving problem. Sometimes they can be very loud and screechy too. This could explain a few things.

And as it has been left for so long it could lead to more problems due to the added back pressure. Bye bye head gasket and such like.

    Hope this helps

No, the catalyst is definitely not collapsed. The car performs beautifully when the AFM is disconnected. Had the cat collapsed there would be no noticeable difference.
