Avant boot struts "creaking"

Is there any routine maintenance I should be doing on the boot door/struts? It makes quite a creaking/squeaking noise and I'm starting to get concerned.....

It's never mentioned as being "touched" on service sheets - doesn't mean it shouldn't be....

a bit of white grease or light oil on the ball ends and a wipe with silicone on the chrome part of the strut helps.

I have my boot lid off at the moment for a paint job and my struts and hindges were stiff. WD40 hardly worked for lubrication but removed the rust. I brushed in some new engine oil and worked it in and this was very effective! The shocks got the same treatment but after i worked it in i wiped away the excess do it doesent attract too much dirt. Hope this helps.
