Hello To All VWAudi Forum Members
I Have A Problem With A 08 Reg Crafter 109PS LWB Chassis Dropside
Since owning for the last 6 months And doing 35000 Miles I Can Only Seem To Get 350 Miles From a Full Tank Which I Think Is Pretty Poor And Works Out At 21-22 MPG
It Makes no difference if its loaded or not , It also seems not as powerful as I thought it would be, its as if it feels restricted/Flat at higher speeds struggling To Reach 85 Mph unless going down a hill and if its going up a hill slows to 60-65 max. I have taken it to 3 Genuine VW Garages And according to them there is no faults Except for a £1250 Replacement Turbo Which Has Not Remedied the problem
I used to own a LT35 With 300,000 Miles and thought the performance/Fuel Economy would be about the same

The only advice i have Now been given is to remove DPF And Have a Re-Map At About £700-£900

Could Anyone Else Advise Me On This Problem Or Guide Me To A Garage That would look At It As VW Dont Seem To Know/Care

thanks johnjaques yes it was replaced at a vw commercial garage Listers of worcester
I have looked at the turbo and is new from what i can see as the turbo body is very clean Whereas the old one that was on it was rusty colour
im still at a loss what else could be making it so un economical The only thing i have been noticing recently is it revs at a 1000rpm for a while then returns back to 700/750 rpm and this can happen up to 3 to 4 times a day Im not sure if this is the normal dpf regeneration routine kicking in but 3 to 4 times in a day seems a bit excessive and as sometimes i can travel for hours on motorways im not sure if it is doing this all the time as you only notice when coming to a standstill at traffic lights / roundabouts Etc

Hi, did you ever find a reason for your loss of power and poor fuel economy? We have the exact same problem on a 58 reg Crafter 109. It seems so slow compared to our old LT 109. And it seems to drink fuel. It starts, runs and sounds fine and its only done around 90,000 miles. Just feels like there is no turbo on it! Any help much appreciated! Many thanks in advance.

Yes i did find the problem it was the turbo, to check if its the turbo take off the top hose in front of the turbo and and feel if there is any and i mean any movement up down and in and out if there is new turbo needed cost if you diy about £750 for a om exchange.
also it could be the air flow meter that's about £100 you will need to hook it up to a vw meter. not the one's you can buy of ebay they dont work on crafters.
