Hi ive got a b5.5 2005 tdi est and i did a drivers door lock change at the weekend solved the electrical issues but caused another: If i lock the doors when i goto unlock my drivers door wont unlock the pin pops up as it does on all the doors but wont open from inside or out the door catch works fine until you lock it the only way to release it is to remove the lock barrel and remove the plastic splined cable from the handle then re atach and its unlocked . it seems where ever i place the plastic bit in the handle it doesnt work i either have a door that wont unlock or a door that wont stay shut if i have the cable to far please tell me its something easy to adjust otherwise its a stripdown of the door again and replace the mech with my old one again till i can get another one sent out. thanks

The grooves are very fine and the cable has to be adjusted correctly, if it will not open mark the clip position, remove and place back 1 groove further out then test again, if 1 groove is too much then you must have a faulty lock

    Yes sorry.
I got the replacement mech from a vw specialist marked as a passat door lock i think it must have been from a golf the little cable mentioned earlier was shorter than mine so would not release fully after locking. I should have checked this before fitting but i assumed it would be like for like so now i have my cable on the mech all works fine.
