    Hi
    I have a allroad 2.5 tdi (2004 model).
i just had new tyres x4 fitted to the vehicle. Since this has been done, the suspension fault light has been up on the dash board.
The suspension is stuck on level 3.
It will not go up or down.
i took it to a garage who work on audi's and vw' sand they say it might be the air compressor
    any help would greatly appreciated
    many thanks

Did they activate the "jack mode" prior to lifting the vehicle (= see manual page 284). This happened to me before when I had a shop change tires, and the lift mechanism went haywire for a while, before "resetting itself".

    Andy

I just ordered a repair kit from you. I had a look a the video too - all very clear.

Is it possible to do the work with the compressor still in/on the car? Also wondering if anyone has posted instructions on removing it - just wary of damaging air lines etc when trine to take out. I'm handy enough to have a go but some guidance, if ever previously poste,d would be very helpful.

    Thanks.

    C.

HI if the suspension error light is on best to fix this 1st, get the fault codes read and report what they are, the suspension should not work if this error light is on, unless you also have another error such as ABS or ESP, any other error lights on?

get the fault codes 1st so we can fix it properly

    best regards

    Andy

    quick question,

i had to rip the compressor shield/cover off as the 3 nuts were totally rusted on, so currently the compressor sits underneath car without cover is this ok or do you have a solution or advice for this problem

    thanks

Hi, you can buy this cover from the dealer for not a lot of money however mine has been missing now for 2 years, its up to you if you wish to replace, it will protect the compressor from the elements and dampen noise slightly, my car is a 2000 "w" with more problems than that plate missing!! hence I just left it.

    regards

    Andy

    Hi Andy
    Thanks for the advice
I wasn't planning to replace it but if it will cause problems in the near future then i rather do it now to prevent any problems.
But since you said you not had 1 for 2 yrs then I'm happy just to leave it off cos not planning to keep car for 2 yrs besides there's nothing to bolt the new cover on even if i got 1 from dealer. The 3 bolts have all rusted.

Since you mentioned noise would you think it would be a good idea to wrap some insulation around it or would the compressor just over heat

    Cheers
    Mike
