Hi folks. I recently got my car machine polished with the 3M products to get rid of swirls and the difference is absolutly amazing ! After the detailer had used the stuff for taking out the swirls, he used a carnauba wax to protect it. I bought a tub of Valintines Road & Track Carnauba Wax ( which was not cheap ) and I found it was not the easiest to put on and take off, didnt leave that "throw a cloth onto your bonnet and it slides off" finish and although it beaded well, its not half as well as the stuff thats on it now as it does not even let the water sit long enough to bead as it just slides straight off. I know it would be easier to ask the detailer but I dont know that he would tell me his secrets

    Hi.
You could go up one stage to the Valentines Concours, thats
what I am using now. If you thought you got good results with road and track,
you will be well impresed. By the way, who done your buffing and how much ? Thinking
of getting mind done though don't know who to trust.
    Marko.

    Hi Mark my man
I used a guy in Bangor called Bangor Auto Valet. He uses the "new" 3 stage 3M type buffing process. My business partner is using a guy in Carryduff that is suposidly very good but he drives a massive Fiat Ducatto van and the guy is charging him £300. Mine was £150 and I think he done a fantastic job. I like to keep my car clean but the difference is like day and night. She is soo much deeper/glossier looking and I was VERY happy. Im not 100% sure of the Valuntines stuff. It was good but a little pricey for being quite difficult to put on/off.

    Hey mate.
I think that the most carnuba wax's I have used are much the same.
This special wax you say the valeter used is probably the same as most carnuba wax's. It's just that it has been buffed.
Would you agree that a car with heavy swirling would stop your cloth sliding down the bonnet ?
Now that your paint has been corrected there is nothing to stop the cloth sliding down your bonnet freely.
If I had just had my car buffed, I would use a glaze like poorboys black hole and two coats of wax.
I would reccommend Valentines Concours which is pricey at £60 or go ahead with two coats of road and track.
I guess now you will be avoiding any potential process that may cause the dreaded swirls !
    Happy motoring.

Thats is a very fair ( and true ) point about a heavily swirled car not being smooth. I stupidly did not think about that and also as you say, machining it on would make it better than my hand action.
The time that I bought the Valentines, I also bought some sort of blue polish from the same guy for dark colured cars like mine. I forgot all about it. Just to recap, wash with lamb wool mit....waffle microfibre dry..... the blue polish and then finish her all off with the Valintines ?
As far as a quick ( cream type ) coat to shine her up, would I just use the polish or would that take off the coat of Valintines wax ?¿
    It confuses me lol
What I mean is, for example, now my car has been carnauba waxed.... say I want to give it a "top up" of shine in two or three weeks and cant be bothered to do the whole process of coats of polish and several coats of wax. Can I use a product that will shine her up without stripping the carnauba wax product off ? I have Maguires quick detailing spray but would it also strip off the wax ?!

    Mate.
Now that you have had her buffed there should be no reason to go near her with polish.
Most polishes have a fine cut in them which can cause swirls, they can also cause hologramming.
Even though you have a coat of carnuba wax on her, I would do the following.
Wash her with a good quality soap like poorboys or smart wash.
Dry of with a quality drying towel.
Apply one coat of poorboys blackhole which is a glaze, very easy to use and very good results by hand.
Then, two coats of carnuba wax, the one you have will be fine, the road and track.
As for topping up the shine without having to go through all that again, there is a product called poorboys QD+.
Spray onto a microfibre and wipe a third of a panel at a time, then wipe of with another clean microfibre.
The QD+ is a detailing spray also containing carnuba. You can do this as often as you like.
All these chemicals can be got from your man in Carryduff.

Fantastic. Ill have to go up and get some more stuff from him next week. I get you now about the polish. Ill use that method. That was a question that I was meant to ask you but you have already answered it.... What to actually wash it with ? On a different note.... I got a bottle of the Poorboys Natural Look interior cleaner. After nearly eating it ( smells yummy ) I used it on my dash. I normally just use furniture polish as I was recommended to by someone here and also liked the shine but this stuff is fanfriggentastic. It darkens/richens the colour of the dash but leaves it matt ( I dont like silicone shiney )

    Hi
Furniture polish ? Oh dear, I bet that gathers the dust !
Shopping list for next week as follows.
    Smartwash or Poorboys car shampoo.
Poorboys QD+ ( Try that on your interior trim ).
    Poorboys Blackhole.
And if you need Carnuba wax aswell.
Oh ! Have a look at the small blue drying towels.
Mention Mark with the blue golf sent you.
Also, if you aren't sure on how to use the products, he will show you.
    Have fun !!

If you want some real easy wax to use, and give a fantastic result try some of the Surf City Garage products I now sell... I insisted on using a few BEFORE I took on the dealership, after all what is the point selling it if you can't recommend it

    I would recommend these....

    https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/s...f%AE-Spray-Wax

    https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/s...E-Carnauba-Wax

Then apply a coat of this....

    https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/s...Detailer-Spray

You then get a result like I did last week....
