    Hello All

Im thining of buying this car :

    >> 2009/2010 Audi A4 1.8 TFSI, Manual, Saloon

I have a few questions that I hope some of the friendly people on here can answer in relation to this specific car

    1. Does this car use a timing BELT or timing CHAIN ?
    2. It seems not to have a regular handbrake, is that correct ?

Overall, how do people find this car ?

    It's got a timing chain I believe.

It's also got an electromechanical handbrake. It's a button instead of a lever. Basically it turns itself off when you get going and you just push the button to put it on again. You get used to it pretty quickly to be honest. Try and find a car with the hill hold assist option fitted as it applies the handbrake automatically when you stop, so makes hill starts much easier. I've had a B8 in manual and automatic and its an option well worth speccing for a manual car.

I like it a lot. I've got the 1.8T as well and its a perfectly good engine. I live in a city so its economical enough to sit in traffic but has enough poke when you need it. I looked at some of the larger engines when buying mine but couldn't really justify the extra cost. What trim level are you looking at?

Thanks for the detailed reply. I hope this 1.8 T FSI has a chain

interesting on this handbrake, I hope its not just a fancy gadget that turns out to be unrelaiable

Im not totally au fair with the trim levels, I know there are SE, SE Executive, S Line, Black edition etc but I dont know which one has what exact equipment

I had a look to see if there is any **simple** web page to say right ; this is the lowest spec, this is the next spec, this is the equipment included in this spec etc etc but couldnt find a simple web page like this

Must haves for a car for me are

    1. Cruise Control
    2. Bluetooth
    3. Centre arm rest

Is there any trim/spec in the Audi A4 range for the 1.8 tfsi engine that has all these as standard ?

Something like Parkers should have details on the trim levels. SE upwards is probably a good shout. The trim levels are the same across the engines so its quite simple.

They all have centre arm rests and SE upwards has bluetooth... not sure about cruise control but it's a second stalk off the steering column underneath the indicators so easy to spot.

yet again, thanks for reply legendamongus

I currently have a 2005 Audi A3 2.0 TDI and it has cruise : with the second stalk. So the newer models still use the stalk, will look out for that so.

What are the trims from lowest spec to highest spec ?

Something like this , starting with lowest :

    Standard
    SE
    SE executive
    Black Edition
    S line

My SE doesn't have the bluetooth phone prep or cruise control. There is (was) an "Executive" pack that bundled these together along with a multi-CD player and alternative 17 inch alloys - and I recall it was a free upgrade in 2009. So, I think you need an SE Executive to be guaranteed of getting both of these.
A5 (Cabriolet) 2.0 TDI 177PS S-Line - Scuba blue, Technology pack (high), B&O soundsystem, Bluetooth (low), Heated seats, Autoglym life shine.
