Does anybody know if there is a fuse for the Interior lights please. We bought this car last week, but I only noticed today that none of them work, but there's no mention of an interior light fuse in the handbook.

There are no other Convenience Unit-type problems (I've had a Passat for 10 years ). I had a quick check under the carpet just to be sure and there's no sign of damp so I'm hoping its a fuse. Any ideas please?

Not actually separately fused, powered from the central electrics unit but check fuse 24 in fuse holder C, the dash side fuse holder.

Thanks Crasher (and sorry about you banging your head on the brick wall). Fuse 24 is fine. Where is the central electrics unit, is it under the carpet on the passenger side as on the Passat?

The central electrics unit is under the dash above the drivers right leg to the right of the steering column.

Thanks Crasher. I've had a look under there and as I imagined, it's an electricians nightmare. Are there any other obvious places I could check first (bad earths, door switches etc?). Would a VAGcom help if I could get my hands on one?

I'm gonna sound stupid I know, but my interior lights were not coming on and all it was I had a switch in the wrong position. I was fairly new to the car and had knocked the 3 position switch without noticing when I had put the left hand courtesy light off. It is easy to do. Reset the switch in the correct position after reading the owners handbook and it all worked again.

Thanks for the response. I've tried every conceivable switch in every conceivable position.

Yes, a code read would be a good idea and at the same time studying the data in Measuring Blocks 08 to observe switches positions and output tests to check the lights.
